DESCRIPTION:

 

It's a Dream Castle. Fortress rebuilt by Gualdim Pais, Master of the Knights Templar in 1171, is the ex-líbris of "Vila Nova da Barquinha".

Surrounded by the waters of the Tagus river, is a granitic massif of a small island in the river, between "Vila Nova da Barquinha" and village of "Praia do Ribatejo".

The unique location of the castle makes it one of the most beautiful monuments in the country, having been considered a National Monument in 1910.

Departs from the pier in Tancos:

 

Ride in the river with loading at the Pier D'El Rei in Tancos, stopping to visit the island and the castle and the return Tancos.

 

Recreational craft with a capacity of 50 people.

November 1 to February 28: 10.00 am. to 1.00pm. - 2.30 to 5.00pm.

 

March 1 to October 31: 10.00am to 1.00pm. - 2.30 to 7.00pm.

By the pier near the Castle:

 

Access to the island and the castle on boats with capacity for 20 people.
